Center for HOPES Research Specialist – There are no current openings, however, you may submit a resume to the Center for HOPES if you are interested in being considered for future Research Specialist positions.

Summary of Duties:

The Center for Health Outcomes Policy and Evaluation Studies (HOPES) is looking for a Research Specialist to participate in a variety of health services and public health research, program evaluation, and other projects.   The Center for HOPES, located at The Ohio State University’s College of Public Health, conducts applied health services research studies to help public and private organizations evaluate clinical effectiveness, quality of care, cost of medical services, processes of care, and other investigations in the areas of health outcomes, policy, and evaluation. 

Under general supervision of the Center Director, the Research Specialist works in collaboration with Center researchers and project personnel to conduct a variety of health care services research, public health studies, health care program evaluation, and other research projects.   Activities may include data collection and analysis, literature reviews, facilitating communication among researchers, preparing reports and presentations, and policy analysis.    This individual may assist in research design and project planning activities, help prepare reports for particular projects, and participate as a co-author in publications. He or she must be able to perform basic statistical analyses of data using standard statistical software, The Research Specialist may direct certain portions of research projects, under the supervision of the Center Director or a project’s principal investigator.  Other duties may include writing and sending communications regarding project status and project needs to participating researchers, and performing other duties as requested by the Center Director. 

This is an outstanding opportunity for any qualified individual interested in contributing to significant research studies on a part-time basis. 

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree or equivalent clinical degree in health care, health services research, public health, or other relevant discipline; considerable practical experience planning and performing research projects, particularly organization/delivery of health care services or public health program evaluation; ability to perform quantitative and statistical analysis of data and possess a basic familiarity with qualitative research approaches; excellent oral and written communications skills; effective organizational and planning skills; knowledge of bibliographic search/retrieval; and ability to perform data analyses using standard statistical software.

Desired Qualifications:

Doctoral degree and experience performing analyses in STATA preferred.
