Dr. Allard E. Dembe specializes in health care policy and management, health services research, outcomes evaluation, occupational health, and social aspects of health. Dr. Dembe comes to us from the University of Massachusetts Medical School where he was an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health and senior research scientist at the UMass Center for Health Policy and Research. He has held adjunct appointments at several institutions including Harvard University, McGill University, and Northeastern University. Dr. Dembe served as deputy director of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Workers’ Compensation Health Initiative and co-directed the doctoral and postdoctoral degree programs in Occupational Health Services Research at the Harvard University School of Public Health.

Hal R. Arkes PhD

Professor, Quantitative Psychology and Division of Health Services Management & Policy, College of Public Health
Dr. Hal R. Arkes received his B.A. from Carleton College and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He served on the faculty of the Department of Psychology at Ohio University from 1972 until 2000. Of those 28 years, four years were spent as the Program Officer for the Decision, Risk, and Management Science Program at the National Science Foundation. Dr. Arkes' research interests are in judgment and decision-making with a particular emphasis on medical decision-making and economic decision-making.
