Master of Health Administration Curriculum
How to Apply

Established in 1870, The Ohio State University is internationally known as one of the foremost centers of graduate education in the nation. It excels in the range and depth of its resources, and graduate students have access to courses in an enormous range of departments, many of which are nationally recognized. Enrollment in the Master of Health Administration program is approximately 25-30 new students each year, so that students can have close interaction with the faculty and with fellow students.

The mission of the MHA Program at Ohio State is to prepare women and men for management and policy positions in health services and related careers; to contribute to the knowledge base for the improvement of health services through research, teaching, and service activities; and to support the mission of the School of Public Health, the Medical Center, and The Ohio State University.

To be admitted in the MHA program, no specific undergraduate degree is expected. The admissions committee will pay particular attention to course work that shows analytical ability, no matter what the major. The program is designed to be self-contained and accessible to persons with a broad range of backgrounds.

One pre-requisite course is Financial Accounting. Recommended courses are

  • Managerial Accounting
  • Statistics
  • Economics
The MHA degree is awarded after successful completion of two academic years of full-time study or the equivalent. Unless students have relevant prior work experience, all students are required to complete a summer of paid administrative residency to gain experience under the preceptorship of prominent executives in the field.
