Leadership
The Ohio Public Health Leadership Institute (OPHLI) is a twelve month leadership development program designed for new and future public health professionals who want to gain additional leadership skills while working as a team or single scholar on a local public health concern. Past scholars include representatives from:
- Ohio’s public health workforce
- Red Cross
- Nonprofit agencies
- Academia
- Hospitals
- Local businesses
The Preparedness Track of the Institute (offered through the Ohio Center for Public Health Preparedness) provides scholars with the opportunity to improve their capacity to effectively direct, coordinate and participate in preparedness and emergency response activities.
OPHLI has been providing leadership training and development to Ohio’s public health workforce and their community partners since 1994. In that time OPHLI has graduated more than 600 scholars.
Starting in the summer of 2008, OPHLI will be transitioning to a regional leadership development approach. Partnering with Kentucky, the Buckeye Bluegrass Regional Leadership Academy (BBRLA) will provide a year long leadership development program for both teams and individual scholars.
