Message from the Dean

On behalf of the College of Public Health, thank you for considering the 2009 Summer Program in Applied Biostatistical and Epidemiological Methods as part of your ongoing professional development. Last year, the Summer Program drew nearly 200 attendees from every county in Ohio, five countries and 12 states plus Puerto Rico. What a vibrant atmosphere for learning and networking!

This program provides you with specialized courses in biostatistics and epidemiology from faculty with international reputations. We have hand-selected outstanding experts who are also excellent teachers. Our Summer Program presents a unique opportunity for you to learn from the best. In addition, the variety of attendees provides a rich environment to learn. Participants come from different organizations and different countries bringing multiple perspectives to every course.

This year we will present 16 courses to help you expand your knowledge of statistical methodology and epidemiology as they relate to public health. The courses give you hands-on experience and tools to analyze data.

Every year, we strive to make the Summer Program fresh and relevant to the challenges faced by public health professionals in the field. New courses for 2009 include:

  • Longitudinal Data Analysis
  • Methods in Family Violence Surveillance and Prevention
  • Methods in Obesity Research/Epidemiology

We have put together a terrific program this year, and we hope to see you in Columbus, Ohio, in July 2009!

Sincerely,

Stanley Lemeshow, Ph.D.
Dean, College of Public Health
