Bob Brems, M.P.H.
Zanesville/Muskingum County Health Department, epidemiologist

Bob received a BA in Biology from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio, in 1988, and a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan, School of Public Health in 1990.  Bob is employed by the Zanesville/Muskingum County Health Department where he is an epidemiologist for five counties in Southeast Ohio (Harrison, Jefferson, Morgan, Muskingum, and Perry).  Responsibilities in this position include disease surveillance, bioterrorism and emergency preparedness, and outbreak investigations.  Bob received a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) certificate from Columbus State Community College in 2004 and is now an adjunct instructor for Columbus State Community College’s on-line GIS courses.  He has been using GIS for the past eight years in numerous public health applications.  Bob has developed a number of public health GIS applications and has presented at numerous GIS conferences, including the ESRI Health GIS Conference in 2005 and 2007, the Ohio GIS Conference in 2005 and 2007, and the University of Albany’s GIS and Public Health Day Conference in 2008.  He has also developed and presented GIS trainings for local public health departments in Ohio, and developed the GIS and Health course at Columbus State Community College. Bob lives in Coshocton, with his wife of twenty years and their three children: Emma 14, Ellie 12, and John 9.
