Gregory C. Gray, M.D., M.P.H., FIDSA

Dr. Gray is a professor of epidemiology and international programs in the University of Iowa’s College of Public Health.  He directs the University of Iowa’s Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases. His medical boards are in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine. He is a fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America. He is the recipient of a number of awards for his epidemiological work and teaching, including the Legion of Merit, Secretary Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, and the University of Iowa College of Public Health Faculty Teaching Award (2005) and Faculty Research Award (2007). He has conducted epidemiological studies of emerging pathogens and tropical infectious diseases in the United States, as well as in remote areas of South America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. His research interests include zoonotic infections, respiratory viruses, rapid diagnostics, vaccine trials, and tropical infectious diseases. Currently, he is studying adenovirus and zoonotic influenza infections in Cambodia, Mongolia, Nigeria, Romania, Thailand, and United States. He has authored more than 140 publications in peer-reviewed medical literature.
