William Rising, Ph.D.
Director of Educational Services at StataCorp

Dr. Rising is the Director of Educational Services at StataCorp, makers of Stata. He develops and conducts Stata training sessions across the country and works with Stata's Author Support Program, which helps authors using Stata to use it well. Though he has been with StataCorp only since early 2007, he has been using Stata for analysis and data management since 1992. His experience teaching the use of Stata started in the Biostatistics Department of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where he taught both in the computer lab and for distance education and received two distinguished teaching awards. He has also recently taught at the University of Louisville and Bellarmine University. He has undergraduate degrees in Electrical Engineering and German from MIT, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst. He is a diehard fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Louisville Cardinals.
