Donna F. Stroup, Ph.D., M.Sc

Dr. Donna F. Stoup is Director, Data for Solutions, Inc. Her firm offers statistical research, consultation, and training with emphasis on public health and epidemiology. Health agencies in the United States and internationally have consulted with Dr. Stroup; recently, she provided research and training support to the American Cancer Society, UNAIDS, and academic institutions including Emory University, the University of Georgia, and St. George’s University (Grenada, West Indies). Before establishing this firm, Dr. Stroup served at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She taught short courses in field epidemiology, developed case studies in several countries, and extended CDC’s training activities to high schools and colleges. She became the first director of the Coordinating Center for Health Promotion bringing together the research and programs in chronic disease, health promotion, birth defects, and genomics. Dr. Stroup is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association, a member of the American Epidemiology Society, and an honorary member of CDC’s Epidemic Intelligence Service. She holds a masters’ degree in Community Medicine from the University of Cambridge, England; a masters’ and doctorate in mathematical statistics from Princeton University; and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Vanderbilt University. Dr. Stroup’s research spans areas of statistical methods for surveillance, meta-analysis, chronic disease epidemiology, and social determinants of health. She received the Statistical Science Award from the American Public Health Association and served as a member of the Senior Biomedical Research Service.
