The Ohio Center for Public Health Preparedness (OCPHP) works with the Ohio public health community, developing systems and strategies to improve the ability to respond to terrorist attacks, major infectious disease outbreaks, and natural disasters like tornadoes, drought, blizzards and floods.
Created in September 2004 by a $5.6 million grant by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in cooperation with the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH), this Center is part of The Ohio State University College of Public Health. The Ohio Center for Public Health Preparedness is the only center in Ohio established to provide training and exercise planning to public health workers statewide. It is part of a network of over 40 preparedness centers in the country.
