Association for Ohio Health Commissioners

The mission of the AOHC is to lead Ohio’s Public Health community by collaborating with its stakeholders to provide administrative and legislative leadership in health promotion, disease and injury prevention, protection of the environment, and by providing public health professionals with a forum for dialogue and continuing education.


Society for Public Health Education

The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is a national society with the mission to provide leadership to the profession of health education and health promotion to contribute to the health of all people through advances in health education theory and research, excellence in health education practice, and the promotion of public policies conducive to health.


Ohio Society for Public Health Education

The Ohio Society for Public Health Education, OSOPHE, is a professional organization for individuals who are involved in health education in a variety of settings: health departments, schools, universities, colleges, worksites, non-profit agencies, and health care settings. OSOPHE helps its members fulfill health education responsibilities and increase professional competence.


National Association of Boards of Health

 

Local boards of health are a resource for improving advocacy, policy, and collaboration for public health. When local board members become involved in public health issues, they have the collective ability to influence how political, educational, business, and community leaders perceive and support local health issues.  The purpose of an association of local health boards at the state level is so board members can learn and interact with other public health leaders throughout the state, and take advantage of a wide variety of educational and legislative services.  There is a National Association of Local Boards of Health and an Ohio Association of Boards of Health.


American Public Health Association

APHA brings together researchers, health service providers, administrators, teachers, and other health workers in a unique, multidisciplinary environment of professional exchange, study, and action.  APHA is concerned with a broad set of issues affecting personal and environmental health, including federal and state funding for health programs, pollution control, programs and policies related to chronic and infectious diseases, a smoke-free society, and professional education in public health.


Ohio Public Health Association

The mission of OPHA is to promote and protect personal, community, and environmental health in Ohio by stimulating public action, educating and mobilizing health professionals, promoting research and teaching in areas of public health, and establishing itself as an authoritative resource on health promotion, disease prevention and environmental protection.


National Environmental Health Association

The NEHA helps to foster more cooperation and understanding between and among environmental health professionals, to contribute to the resolution of worldwide environmental health issues, and to work with other national professional societies to advance the cause, the image, and the professional standing of the environmental health profession. At the same time, NEHA remains solidly grounded by its roots in efforts to improve the environment in cities, towns, and rural areas throughout the world in order to create a more healthful environment and quality of life for us all.


Ohio Environmental Health Association

The OEHA works for the betterment of the health and welfare of mankind through the improvement of the environment by sponsoring state and regional meetings and publications, by developing methods of measuring and evaluating achievements in environmental health, the establishment of a central point of reference and education material for the membership, the procurement of cooperation with other agencies and organizations, and such other activities as will lead to the greater efficiency and professional growth of the membership.
